Parent SEND Sessions

Our peer support sessions and tea and talk sessions give SEND parents and carers a safe, welcoming space to connect. Whether you’re looking to share experiences, swap strategies, or simply enjoy a cuppa with people who understand, these informal gatherings offer both practical support and genuine community. Families leave feeling more confident, less isolated, and reassured that they are not alone on their journey.

Children Activities

STRM offers activities for disabled and neurodivergent children in safe, inclusive spaces. Sessions include creativity, sport, and skill-building — helping children grow in confidence, develop independence, and support their wellbeing. Everything is designed to deliver the benefits of therapy, without looking or feeling like therapy.

Our FREE Guide

Our flagship guide, Supporting Your Neurodivergent and Disabled Child, co-written by our CEO Maggie Cleary and MyOTAS, has supported over 17,000 families across Southend, Essex, Thurrock, and 12 other regions nationally. Co-produced with parent carers and partners, and commissioned as part of ‘waiting well’ Early Help support, the guide is now in its third year and continues to expand its reach across England.

Online parent carer forum 24-7

Our online forum gives SEND parents and carers a safe, private space to connect anytime. Families can share experiences, ask questions, and find peer support from others who understand. Moderated by STRM, the forum provides trusted guidance and community connection — and with over 2,100 parents and carers already part of it, you’ll never feel alone.

Step-by-step Resources

We provide clear, step-by-step guides to help families navigate the SEND system, from disability benefits and EHCPs to education and support pathways. Our resources include a unique Sentence Bank to help parents and carers find the right words when writing applications, forms, or letters. All guides can be downloaded through our Membership Zone, giving families practical tools they can use straight away.

Carer's Guidance

We provide clear guidance to help carers of disabled and neurodivergent children understand their rights and access support. From registering with your GP and finding carer discounts to statutory services and self-care, our resources make it easier to get the help you need.

Disability Benefit Guidance

We provide clear, step-by-step guides to help families navigate disability benefits such as DLA, PIP, and Carer’s Allowance. Each guide breaks down complex processes into simple stages, with tips and examples written in plain language. These resources can be downloaded through our Membership Zone, so families can access them at their own pace with the reassurance that STRM is here for extra support if needed.
